New Year Plan

Scary isn't it? The New Year is just around the corner. Yes I know, a 8 weeks-corner right? Which reminded me that I have not kept any of my resolutions. I simply can't believe that time just zooms by like this. I don't even have time to stop and breathe.

I am not sure about the rest of the world but in the little island that I am residing in, people make travel plans for the new year. You know, take 4 days off and you have 9 days stretch of holidays. Having spent the past few in Japan, I want to go to a new place, see new things and meet new people. So we started making plans. Since with the rest of Singapore taking 4 days off, we have to compromise to take only 2 days off , Well, there has to be someone to protect my island right? So that left us with 5 days stretch of holidays, just nice for a short trip within Asia.

843am
1 msg received from The Boyfriend
Was surfing the net till 3am in the morning, we have 3 options: thailand, vietnam and taipei. What do you think?

844am
Me: I am for option 2 & 3.

845am
BF: Me too. Taipei , here we come.

Yes, we are going to Taipei for New Year. So we started booking for our flights and accomodation. And I think I get to know him better and how different we are.

1145am
BF: Sweetie, do you think you can call the travel agency to find out about the prices if we were to depart on the 28/12 and return on 2/1?

Me: Sure.

1147am
BF: Hey, asked about departing on the 29/12 and return on the 2/1 as well, ok?

Me: Sure.

1150am
BF: So how? What did they say?

Me: Who's they?

BF: The agencies!!!

Me: Oh! Ok I will call now. Bye. I put down the phone and continued my work.

8.15pm at home
BF: The prices seem ok, so we will depart 29/12 and return 2/1. Book now book now book now!

ME: ........

BF: The hotel website doesn't seem to work, call them in taipei now.

ME: Me? Hyperventilated, the thought of calling them and speaking in mandarin doesn't seem to appeal to me.

So I called and made full use of my halting mandarin, with The Boyfriend in the background giving me non-stop instructions about what to tell and ask them. The receptionist gave up, You can speak english, I know english. Thank god!

930pm
I put down the phone, The Boyfriend beamed, Now we can go for dinner.
